I'd say their hearing is as good as a deers. I've had em jump to attention from the sound of my arrow sliding on the arrow rest.
A hogs biggest downfall, if they have one, would be its height. If a hog had the height advantage of a deer they would be a myth because nobody would ever see them. Then again, their height can be to their advantage for the type of cover they prefer the most,,,, heavy, thick stuff. Ever notice when your in a thicket if you kneel down you can see further. Them hogs have that figured out too.

Yeah, they have lots of stuff figured out. Like how to get the corn and pellets out of my protein feeders.

I would add that thier eyesight is poor at best. They can see movement at a distance. It's the nose you you gotta worry about. Like a deer the nose will give you away quick..

The nose will do it. Nutoy related a story to me, about the dominant boar circling down wind, while the rest of the bunch came straight on. The boar sounded the alarm on him. Busted!

They have good ears, but you can cover your sounds when approaching; if you get some experience. Thier eye sight is about as good as my mother-in-law's, mother. Don't challenge thier nose unless they are feeding with a group and your down wind.
