| The price of corn is going up because of research for alternative fuels. Good new's for farmers, bad for consumers.

| Nutoy told me that the farmers are also complaining about drought conditions last year, that hurt the yield. Now, some of the corn farmers are switching to soybeans because a larger profit margin is expected. Guess what that will do to the corn prices?

| I wish that they would either decide that biofuel was good or bad, and move on. If they say good, then it will be a boost for agriculture in this area (and duck hunting!), and maybe if enough acres are put in corn nation wide, then the prices will drop. Corn in this area, all has the floxin in it, that makes it no good for livestock or wildlife feed. It would be great for ethanol though. Dupont is also working on hybrid corn, that has more yield per acre. Whatever it takes, I just want to see the corn prices back down. Last edited on Sun Apr 13th, 2008 11:36 pm by Chick

| The U.S. need's to build some more oil refineries, then the price should drop because we will be less dependant on imported oil... Then the corn can be eaten so less demand the price should drop... Last edited on Fri Apr 18th, 2008 10:52 am by firedawg226

I work at Wal-Mart near Gainesville, FL. A 40# bag of corn is now $8.27.
