Well guy's,
I went to the range today to sight in my new muzzle loader. This is my first black powder so i'm new to it's inherent demons. Four shots and it was hitting dead on at 100 yards.
Like i said i'm new to black powder, so i bought a Traditions from Bass Pro. I got a starter pack, came with a case, shooting stick and a few other items to really temp ya. The model i got is a in line, breech action and i am very happy so far.
Now customer service is usally poor at best at most places you go to but i was surprised at the gentleman @ Bass Pro. The first Gun i got shot great but started not locking @ the breech after i put in the primer. So i carried it back and told this girl @ the customer service desk the problem. She called the gun dept. and this guy came up, looked at the gun, verified the problem and said follow me. So i did and he checks the computer and say's they don't have that model in stock but would i take the next model up. Of course i ask is it more expensive and he says yes, but since you have a issue with yours, B.P.S is gonna give you this one even swap, and that is exactly what they did.. Surprised, i know i was....
That took place a week ago and i got a chance to sight in the rifle and scope today. I'm not plugging them (bass pro) but i will say my faith in customer service with no haggles or fuss was restored.
Any way, for 270.00 with tax, i figure i got a good deal, but i want others opinions, good or bad on the muzzle loaders in general. I'm using the triple seven pellets and 209 primers, 300 grain ballistic tip bullets, and like i said @ 100 yards im spot on..

| I've always had good luck with B.P.S. I've got an old Lyman 54cal. precussion cap. Wyoming doesn,t have many seperate seasons for muzzle loaders. If they had a late season I would buy me one of those new ones. I don't care what I hunt with as long as I'm hunting.

The main reason is the way the laws are written on hunting here is why i chose black powder. Since private land is scarce to hunt on and the wma's nearly all have huntable populations of hogs, i went with a rifle i can use every day.
Ga. W.M.A.'s have different hunts going on at different times. Most of the time is small game and only on select days can you hunt deer, bear or turkey. You can only carry rimfire or shotguns loaded with #2 or smaller shot during small game regardless of what your hunting, however DNR and ga law considers black powder primitive weapons and suitable for small game. Since i have several shot guns, 22's, and a couple of rifles i figured i would get something i could use in heavy brush.
A big factor is the areas that i hunt are largely grown over and that is where alot of hog activity is, their highways, main roads and drive ways they use going from food source and bedding areas. I prefer my pse bow, but due to an inability to be able to get a clear shot aka arrow deflection, a black powder will give me a better chance to harvest the swine and keep me legal at the same time.

Hey Brucet,
have you had any issues with yours? My newest one shoots like a dream and i couldnt be happier. It came with a 4x32 scope and is very accurate, even if the scope was made in china>>>> wonder if it is coated with lead paint????? LOL
