They are getting more and more turkeys up here in aroostook county.I just hope this winter is not to hard on them up here in northern Maine with the deeper snow this year. The wildlife biologest claim that they can get up in the trees and bud just like a grouse.I took these pictures right here in Benidicta.

Keep us posted on them Bruce. I like Turkey's; not to many around me, but a little further to the north where I grew up were quite a few.

I'm waiting on the spring hunt here for turkeys. We have a very strong population around the state. I've counted as many as 43 in one flock, but usaully see around 8 or less in flocks. This past fall hog hunting i saw 26 in a week, and since then i have seen a bunch.

I don't think the beards will freeze and break. I've seen some so long they were dragging on the ground when they were strutting.
What can you harvest turkeys with in your states?

I don't think the beards will freeze off either.Shotgun in the spring toms only.Untill this past year bow only during the fall. Now in certain southern zones shotguns are allowed during fall season.Bothe sexes allowed.

Why I asked about what you harvest with is because here I can use a 30-06 if I want. You sure don't have to worry about calling them in to close

I used to shoot them with a rifle in Virginia during the fall season. Its legal there as well.Had my 7mm mag.Would hit them right at the base of the neck with no meat damage at all.

| In Ga. we can use a bow, blackpowder, or a shotgun. Spring only for turkey season.
