Well,
I might be out for a few days. I have to begin my annual taxes, which includes crawling on my hands and knees to the nearest CPA with a fist full of money that I can't spend. If I'm really good this year, maybe I won't be pelted with rocks and caned in the office while I'm crying. I hope that our elected leaders show mercy on us and open some oil wells so we can go to work on a full tank of gas too. Maybe they will give me a break and I won't have to sell my truck in the parking lot

O.K.,
I just had a great idea! I'm gonna write a country song and get rich! Here it goes.
Don't be shy, tell me what you think.
I lost my lease.......my old ford ranger only starts in neutral, my gas gauge don't work anymore......but thats o.k. cuz I need to wite down my miles anyway.
Got hit by a hurricane... lost alot, but I know it's gonna be o.k. cuz uncle sam is watching over me today.
Gas is going up but the stock markets down....I guess it all evens out if you can afford to go downtown........
Chorus:
Got hit by a hurricane... lost alot, but I know it's gonna be o.k. cuz uncle sam is watching over me today.
Now evryone joins in:
Lay down your rhymes gentlemen!!!!

Chorus:
Got hit by a hurricane... lost alot, but I know it's gonna be o.k. cuz uncle sam is watching over me today.
WYO was frozen to a real cold pole cuz he works in wyoming where nobody goes

I know this was written with humor but,
Maybe a different perspective is needed. Just think if all you had to do is fill out a short form because you didn't make enough to even consider going to a CPA, let alone afford one. I guessing that the most of us on here have had our lean times. So which would you rather have the lean times or being able to complain about how much we have to pay in taxes? When I worked in Indianapolis, if I had a bad day and thought the whole world was against me I go out of my way to drive thru some of the worst parts of town and realize how great I had it and still have it.

| I'm glad I could help you out Dan. I know money isn't everything in life, but I wish you had to pay the taxes like I do. That would mean that you are getting paid more for your work which I am sure is more demanding than mine. Especially when the CEO's and all the Board of Directors have made more than ever before and none of that is getting down to us. The good Lord willing I will be able to retire at 58 and the only reason for that is because the wife and I are very lucky to have good union jobs. We are both very active in our unions. The wife is the president of hers and I'm a steward in mine. So I don't mind when I have to pay a little in the end. All that tells me is that we are making a decent wage for our time.

I used to have a decent Union Job with Consildated Frieghtways , worked there for almost 8 years till they closed the doors, I was in Teamsters local 107 and teamsters local 430 I was also shop steward for 430 for 2 years...even back then I was still getting a decent tax return as I always let the government be my bank account as I cant save money so i dont claim much during the year (kinda like a savings account for us).. One thing i can say for The company I work for now, it is not union but there is no need for one there, they treat there employes fairly and give us bonus's when then work quota is met... I can honestly say I get treated like a human being even from management.... And for the wages in this state i feel im getting payed fairly for my work.. Overall im a happy employee and dont have to pay a union dues to have some one represent me... One thing that burned my ass being in the union was people who were worthless workers were protected by the union, these workers knew it and dragged there feet... This wasnt fair to the company or the fellow workers who had to pick up the slack...
I have worked both in unions and out and they both have there ups and downs, just my opinion

That's what America is all about along with the many freedoms we have is the freedom of ones own opinion.
I'm glad to hear that even being a non-union shop that you are getting good wages and hopefully great benefits and retirement package, because I'm sure not relying on Social Security.
