firedawg226, thats pathetic but true. Seems people today are just to lazy to take care of themselves, and want everything done for them. Afew years back I was on the web ordering some fishing gear an my arm and elbow started to ache. I thought no more about it, then I started sweating really bad and I thought it's just my diebeties acting up you know something screwy with my blood sugar was all. Next thing I know i start getting dizzy well I woke up my wife 2:30 am and told her take me to the hospital 35 miles away. When I got there I went into the emer. room but no one was about so I started wondering the halls looking for someone. Finally a nurse looking type asked If I needed to find something. I said yes I need to find somebody I think I'm having a heart attack. WOW did things change then. It was funny in some ways and scary in others. I do appreciate the A-CAR people thats for sure. They transferred me to a bigger hospital and the crew of the amb. did an outstanding job.
For my part thank you guys for the work you do and your dedication to doing things correct and quickly.
Thank you dry run..... One place that i would not take a dog is the V.A. here in Atlanta. I saw a guy come in complaining of chest pains. He was sweating like a horse and vomitting. I said to a doc that i thought he needed to go back then, that he was turning blue. She said, "i'm the doctor and i know whats best for the pt." Five minutes later the gentleman pitched forward out of the chair in the hall dead. The same doctor that had spoken so rudely to me now was crying, big aligator tears and begging for help. So, i helped work the code and after they pronounced him dead i looked at the doc and said, "yeah, your a doctor alright". I went and found the mans wife and gave her the whole story in hopes that she would bring a malpractice claim against the hospital but dont know if she ever did.
If a person does need 911, then they should call. In Dry Run's case he should have called 911. Classic signs and symptoms should not be shrugged off. I hope everone can see there is a difference between having chest pains and sweating versus a mosquito landing on their arm.
The hospital he referred to is typical in Ga. , rural Ga. that is. The big city hospitals stay packed.
