I just got back from paying the game and fish for a chance to go hunting. The wife and I put in together.

Moose                 117.00 ea

Mountain Goat    127.00 ea

Bison                   11.00 ea  that's to get you on the list 402.00 ea if you are called

Bear                    45.00 ea

Trapping             44.00   just for me

Spring Turkey     16.00  just for me

For a grand total of $660.00  Of course if I don't get drawn on the moose or mountain goat or turkey I'll get most of that money back.

What you guy's forget Boarmaster and i both work in the thankless arena of public safety. We are the most overworked and under-paid good-ole boy's you will ever meet. With the fire department it's one call that all. The people we service cant even turn off water at the street if their pipe breaks. I'm serious, i've been called to homes from a broken fake finger nail to a "real call" like a heart attack. The tax payers money is used for so much bullshit its unreal. The liability for running a engine or ladder or ambulance up and down the road is tremendous. Today most people will not take responcability for their own health and drive themselves to the doctors for small things like a cold or a broken finger nail. I got cut buy a saw when i was about 11, and my parents drove me to the doctors. About 9 years ago i drove myself to the hospital when i cut off the end of one finger after i bandaged it up.

We run calls that really should not be 911 or require that kind of responce but we cant deny treatment or transport by law. Case in point, about 5 yaers ago i ran a call on a 4 year old whose mom called 911 because a mosquito landed on her daughters arm and mom stated to dispatch that she knew that that bug had west nile virus. I was riding seat on the engine and we responded non-emergency. When we pulled up mom was pissed because we did not come with lights and sirens. I ignored her attitude and started with the questions. Now keep in mind there was no bite mark or anything, merely that the bug landed on her arm and that was it. I asked mom how she knew the bug carried the virus and she said she could just tell.

Like i said, we dont get paid much, and the same people we serve are the same one's that vote in the bigger and dumber nut bags that cotrol our salaries. But when the green backs are saved i'd love to make a trip up there and bust a moose or elk, and an antelope.

Firedawg I feel for your frustrations. It is a thankless job and I appreciate your work. When you get a little saved up and you want to do a hunt out here let me know and I'll see if I can't help ya get a critter.
