When we first moved to Maine we were waiting for a few days till our truck arrived with most of our belongings, in the meantime I was cutting the grass and turning a cow pasture into a yard...
I had a young boy from PA that helped us pack and move and he traveled to Maine to help us unload and unpack Josh is his name and a great kid , at that time i think he was 15 any way one day whoile I was mowing Josh and my kids approached me to see if they could set a cage trap for coon out back... Although it wasnt trapping season i figured cage trap would be catch and release so I gave them the go ahead to set the cage trap... Josh had set the trap that night , the next morning my oldest daughter Becca at that time was 7 she came up to me while I was raking and weed whacking and asked if she could set the cage trap tonight... I couldnt say no after all I did give Josh the ok to set it the night before so I said it was ok....
The next morning Becca comes running into the house excited telling me she caught a Racoon and it was holding something fuzzy, this baffled me as I couldnt figure out for the life of me what this coon may be holding... So I got my shoes on and went out for a look, and behind me was Josh and my 3 girls...
I get up to the cage and Becca caught not only one coon but 2 in the same cage

I was happy for her and Josh looked at me and said (Let me go check Mine)
I about dropped over as I thought they had 1 cage set NOT TWO ... anyway we alked over to Josh's cage and low and behold josh had one too.

anyway I made them let the coons go and put the cages away , and told them they would have to wait till trapping season before setting anything.
2 lessons were learned that day
1. Kids can be decieving so make sure you double check and dont assume there is only one cage trap being set
and the other is
2.Rasberry Marshmellow Fluff on a Bagel hung in the back of the cage is excellent eye appeal and great attractant to coons ..
I hope you enjoyed the story as much as I did telling about it
