| Still hunting takes patience, and if you have it, you can get really close. Do it like you do deer or squirrel. Hogs will burrow up, under pine needles and such, and you will never know they are right under your feet..........until they explode. Last edited on Tue Jan 29th, 2008 05:37 am by Chick

| They will lay up in the tops of blown down trees as well, and they do explode from cover. Kind of make your hairs stand on end

| One way I find them when they are inactive and bedded up is to walk the downwind edge of thickets and "sniff" them out. You know they are there and it'll still scare the pants off you when they blow out. Sometimes they go THAT way, sometimes they'll run you over. I love it.

| I tell you firedog, thehogs that nutoy and I chase, do have a smell, but not near like the regular feral hogs, that is basically domestic hogs gone wild, or with just a trace of the eurasian strain.

| The hogs here smell and it is a strong odor. You can definitely tell when your in a hot spot. It seems that even when they leave an area the smell will linger a day or so, but when they are close the smell can overload your nose.
