| Next time you kill a deer, rub his whole body down with a clean rag to include the: Pre orbital glands "around the eyes, Tarsal glands," the dark tuff of hair inside the legs of a buck." Make sure you rub down the entire body including the the slit of thier hoofs. wear gloves if you can remember to bring them. After you rub the deer down vacuum pack the bag when you get home and you will have you own drag rag or cover scent rag that you can hang by your stand. USE MORE THAN ONE RAG SO YOU HAVE SEVERAL! I have used this trick with my wild boar for years.

| that sounds great and makes sense. I read somewhere to take acorns and put them in water and let them fermint, then put liquid in a spray bottle and use on your rubber boots etc for a cover scent . Any opinions ?

I have not tried that, but I do like to wear rubber boots as often as I can. Summer time is just too hot for that down here. I don't think it would hurt anything, most acorns that don't get eaten will usually rot anyway but the sour smell is always o.k. with the hogs.

The biologists say that rubber will not hold or leave any human scent and that canvas and leather shoes and boots leave human scent. Plus, the areas I hunt, tend to have wet spots. In the warmer months, the 17" boot shaft, protects me from snake bites. I think the cottonmouth can probably get it's fangs through them, if they hit it right, but I feel safe anyway.

| i like my redhead snake boots. waterproof to the knee and no snake fangs in the lower leg. like chick said, wet spots and snakes are a pain. personally, i like the light weight and breathing of my boots, and a dose of cover scent on them makes me happy with the way they perform....
