Alright I know I just had a post and yall gave me some great advice and the hunt we were talking about is coming up on the weekend of Feb. 29-March 2.
I just checked the weather and I’m going to be checking daily but it looks like it’s going to be a nasty weekend with Friday having cloud cover and windy, maybe some rain Saturday and it looks like for sure rain Sunday.
I was wondering what yall think about hunting in the rain? Whenever I have hunted in the rain it seems to hold the animals back but I have also seen them move in the rain as well. I’m not sure if hogs really care too much about the rain or if it affects movement at all. Also it might rain some then quit and I don’t know if that encourages them to move in the pauses of the rain or not move at all.
We might be able to ask the owner or the land if we can move back the hunting date to a weekend where it does not look like it’s going to rain.
Thanks again,
Craig

I've found that rain or bad weather doesn't seem to bother hogs near as much as most game. I like to hunt them during those on/off rains or when bad weather is going to be moving in that night. They seem to be very active just before and just after a change in the weather.
When hunting hogs the wind can be your best friend or your worst enemy. I like having a decent wind blowing. Hogs are the only critter I know of that have a knack for being able to detect you when they are upwind of you on those days when there is a very light wind. When there is no wind at all it seems like they have a radar that seeks you out from a long distance.
I say pack the rain gear and go put the smack down on em. Good luck.

Great answer NUTOY! I just got back from Dallas, we left early Thursday morning and punched through the front. When we got to Dallas there was a 25 degree difference in the temp. That's when you want to hunt them hogs!! Pressing cold fronts and rainy days make them move and eat!!! It ain't deer hunting; it's better! If you Bass fish, then you can can really understand the demand and attention that you need to dedicate yourself too. It ain't easy; It's hard work, but the reward is increadible. We are very few, but proud! I hope you brought your rain gear and harvested some good boar! Send us some pics! I look forward to them!

Thanks again so much Its amazing how anyone can come onto this forum and find so much knowledge and experience thanks for all the advice.
Even when the rain is really bad do hogs move? Or is it just when it’s on and off which in Texas that’s what it mostly is.
If it’s raining would yall recommend us sitting in the stands all day or should we still try to walk around?

I personally like to stalk them more in the rain, the rain makes great camoflage for any sound you might make. Ive been able to get alot closer to them, but be warned----- be ready to shoot cause you might get closer than you may find comfort in. I was stalking some not long ago and was easing up on a small herd, when i almost stepped on a little striper. That little pig squealed and scared the crap out of me, not to mention the whole bunch bolted quick into the thicker stuff. I still have the hair stand up on my arms thinking about it-----
