| Here's a tip I had forgot about, and never tried personally. A friend that was on a South Texas deer lease, told me that down there, they would shoot jack rabbits, and use the guts for bait in their hog traps. He told me it was WAYYYYYYYYYY better than corn. Maybe it had to do with the "aroma" that will drift with the wind. Last edited on Sat Mar 22nd, 2008 12:20 pm by Chick

| Sounds like a good idea. WE used to feed hog's chicken gut's, feathers and skin when we killed chickens to eat. Throw the gut's in the pen and they would tear them up.

| A friend of mine saves the remains of his fish, after filleting them, and uses that for bait. It stinks, but it catches the hogs. I have witnessed this. Just be ready to wash the hog off when you get his stinking butt out of the trap!

They are scavengers and will eat like an opossum if they have too. I remember when I was little and we use to have 5 gallon slop buckets out the back door to scrape our plates and left overs in for the hogs. Nothing went to waist back then... nothing. now everything goes down the sink. They love eggs, even turtle eggs on the creek bank. Same as a coon.

| Yes, they do love eggs! Do you make an egg flavored bait?

No I don't. There is a product called Feralmone that is sold in Australia it is 'Synthetic Fermented Egg' sold in a spray can mainly for fox and dogs. I read some reports on it that were very positive for hogs too. I would imagine that you could make your own liquid version.
