Back some years ago we used to catch them about thirty five pounds and i have senn some caught  that were bigger. Ive seen some in downtown atlanta that were about forty to forty five pounds or better. Late night calls to an apartment complex you would see them around the dumpsters eating the food out of them. The raccons were in competition with the homeless people for the left overs.;)

I have trapped coon as far soutth as Mississippi and as north as Maine and would have to agree that the further north you head the larger the coons will get, with that said i also feel there are tons more coons down south ....

here is a pic of one i got on my trail cam this year and he isnt exactly small LOL :D

Dead of winter the masked garbage can raiders will piss you off here. They are worse than dogs about getting into the garbage cans and making a mess. One of my hunting buddies is a deputy sheriff in the county i live in. He ran a call two weeks ago where a coon used somebodys pet door and went into their home and did not want to leave.  He asked the homeowners what they wanted him to do? they said that they didnt want the coon hurt, they just wanted him to make it leave. Eventually he pepper sprayed the thing, grabbed it behind the head and tossed it into the yard. Three nights later the coon returned and tore up the kitchen, but when the officer arrived it ran out the pet door like a hardened criminal.....:D

My same buddy, the deputy, had a possum come through his pet door one night. His roommate heard a commotion and got up to investigate. He nearly stepped on the thing which started hissing at him. He pee'd his pants, ran outside and grabbed a shovel and beat the thing to death! Tim's still got a stain on the carpet from that possum, and he lock's off his pet door at night.:D

This is terrible you guys go from picking on poor old squirrels to coon and possum LOL :D

We don't have alot of those problems out here. When you live on the edge of prairie you don't see alot of coon and there are no possums here and the occasional fox squirrel.
