What kind of live traps do you use? When I want to catch anything, without useing steel traps, I like the Pied Piper Live traps. I have had 3 different manufacture's traps, and I like the Pied Piper the best. I have 3 of them now. They are also built stronger than other competitors, such as Havahart. Check them out!

I can't remember the names. I have some single door and one double door. I did have some problems with the double door. The coon figured out to reach thru and open the door from the side. I use them anytime there might be pets around. I do have a muskrat colony trap. I've had some success with it.

I use them around the barn, to catch coons, possum and skunks. That way, my dogs are safe. Right now I am building a couple of multi-catch RAT traps. Looks like the Norway rats are trying to get a foothold here. My dogs killed my cats, so there is nothing left to keep them in check. I let you know how they work. Pied Piper makes a multi-catch trap, but the entrance is only 2" X 2", and while it would fine for Rafter and Field rats, these darn Norway rats would have a hard time getting through that. I con't find anything else reasonable, and they should be simple to build. I know one guy that just uses a fish trap.

We are only allowed to use perch traps on the Tx side. All other type fish traps or nets are illegal. No yo-yo's allowed here either

Thats why the fishing is better on OUR side.  :biggrin

spring loaded fishing real, set it and come check on it later. Some people will hang 100 or so at night and run them all several times during the night.

Nutoy just told me about a guy catching a 57# blue cat on a jug line, in the cove by his house. He said it was very fatty. Doesn' t the mercury (heavy metals) build up in the fat of fish?

There used to be a big problem with mercury in vernon parish where I grew up. There was always an advisery on it and they would always follow up with a statement on how many pounds of fish you could eat per month. It didn't bother me at all. I ate all I wanted and turned out just fine.
