During the spring muskrat season we are only allowed to use conibears so I had to come up with a float using conibears instead of foothold traps.Heres what I came up with.

Can you use something like Thompsons or a weather proofing stain to camo the floats and make it more bouyant?  Will the smell of the stain make the rat's shun the traps and bait?

Just curious, looks like alot of hard work and maybe the weather proofing might make the lumber used last longer.....   With todays price's i'd try alot of things to make the floats last longer, price's on lumber and everthing that is..

Thanks, good idea.I'm thinking about either staining or painting them.Dan suggested pink with white poka dots but I'm leaning towards the forest green:D
