I had a bunch of wire cages built for fisher that I made where you put the bait in the back and put a 160 conibear in the slots cut out in the front then wire them to a tree trunk. With them passing the no exposed bait law these are no longer legal to use so I came up with an idea to make use out of them by cutting the backs out and wiring thm togather so I get multiple colony traps to set in the bigger deeper runs for muskrats. On the left is what I came up with, one of my old fisher cages pictured on the right.

| Like it makes a big deal about how you catch your prey. Sorry you have to deal with that. Glad to see you used your noggin for making use of the wire.

NY state just put a law in the same deal almost. This is for 220 or bigger. We use the plastic buckets that cat litter comes in paint them and then set them. They have to be at least 4 inches back from the front. Also we make boxes we tie to a tree but the bottom can not be higher than 6 inches off the ground. There is a top part with screen to put bait on the the trap is below the screen.
Also they make you set at least 100 ft from any public walk or trail (I got 6 good yote spots) but they will be too close to the old trail.
Too bad we have to go through this basically because people walk their dogs on public trails and don't put them on a lease like the signs say to do then the dog runs off and gets trapped. The dog owners break the law and then we get stuck with 3 new laws under pressure from them.
