I like my fresh deer steak cooked in butter in a frying pan slowly on low heat without over cooking it.All I add is pepper.
For patridge(Grouse for you non mainers) you just can't beat boning out the breast and fry with olive oil.Its amazing.

| A couple a years ago we were in the woods and we took quail, chicken, deer backstrap and dove and put it in a pan with hot wing sauce and half a beer and cook it while you are in the woods. You open the foil and you have a pan full of meat and bones and ya dont know what ya eating but it is sure nuf good.I also take a boston butt and cook it on a smoker at 190 for 24 hrs and it is falling apart good.

| If you dove hunt. Stuff the breasts with a jalapeno pepper, wrap them with slab bacon and secure with a small stick or tooth pick; marinade in your favorite sauce for a few hours and put them on the grill, save the marinade and brush as needed while cooking. Works good with quail too.

| As you can tell from my camping picture. I take my gas grill with me. I live for simplicity.

| Didn't you get enough of those when you were in? I take my grill and throw on some steaks with some fried potatoes and onions on the side.

Sounds good and I love to BBQ, but I like my MRE's when I'm busy in the woods all day. Riding the 4 wheeler, scouting, baiting, and setting up don't leave time to cook. I keep a few in my truck incase I get hungry, "Which, I always am." Even if I don't like the main meal, I'll eat the snacks and have some TP when I need it I hate pinestraw and dry oak leaves You have to admit that they are getting better all the time. I survived off of them during hurricane RITA. The worst part was when they ran out of the regular MRE's and were handing out the hummanitarian ones in the peach colored bags yuck! I feel sorry for the 3rd world countries. Lentils and puke with a big fig treat I would rather eat Dan's persimmon seeds

Yes, I remember them. I liked the pound cake. You were screwed if you lost your little p-38! It took me a half a day to learn how to open the cans when I was little. My step father would not open it for me.

The round little crackers were O.K. and the PB was good too. I can't remember most of the others though. Too long ago. Was there a spam?

| Yes , the pound cake was good, especially when you poured the peach juice over it. The one that really sticks out in my mind was the ham and eggs! yummy!
