I really liked the "ham & Egg's", how about the steak and potato's? Spaghetti? and dont forget the pork patties.... I always found the pound cake pretty dry and the p-nut butter you had to mix the oils back in. What about the candie's, like the toffee or the coconut bar or round?
They were filling, i can say that. Made you miss the chow hall food. Never went to the bush without a bottle of tabasco in the old alice pack.........

I can honestly say i dont miss the c-rats. I finally got to try a mre prior to getting out in 1984 and it was good. That chicken-al-la-king was great. Doe's anyone remember taking the cracker can from your c-rats and making a little stove to put heat tabs in to warm you food? Remember the way the fumes from the heat tabs burned your eyes and nose?
We had a jack-ass in our platoon that threw 3 or 4 cans of p-nut butter in to the fire one night (unopened) and when they blew it caused burns worse than napalm, well, maybe not worse but you get the idea.

absolutely, THE AIRFORCE RULES. Never had to go to the field, lot of simulations in the chem suit o the flight line, but prety much an 8-5 job, except when I went SAC: HA, big difference in the games and TDY. I would not trade it for the world though, I'm glad I served and hope we get everything striaght soon and our men come home soon

I made some deer steak the other day. I cut it in little pieces, wrapped the pieces in bacon and secured them with a tooth pick. Then I marinated it with the dales and grilled them YUM YUM YUM YUM!!

O.k. First off I know that we do not think of gravy in the same way! My mother is a yankee! My father is from West Virginia, I have been around the world in the Air Force and was pretty much raised in Louisiana since I was 8 years old. I have had about every gravy known to man "accept for maybe Bear Grylls," (LOVE THAT SHOW) .
Cajun gravy is not what you think it is; it is more of a pan juice, than a gravy that you are thinking of! It is not thick at all, it's more like the juice at the bottom of a pan.
If you cannot make rice and gravy, then you can not cook!!! It is one of the first dishes that any child learns to cook down here. It is our favorite food.
Rice and gravy can be made with any meat: Deer, Goose, Bear, Boar, Beef, Pork, even Turkey meat! Don't matter at all.
There are only two gravy's BROWN and RED!! We don't eat thick gravy like S.O.S (I do, because my momma's a yankee, but I don't know of anyone that makes it or eats it.)
So, I am going to make some Teal Breast with a red gravy for you this weekend and send you the pics here with the recipe ; you can use any dark meat with it.
You won't eat any other gravy again!!
By the way, I have noticed a big difference beween northern and southern rice. Our rice is made sticky; you can use an ice cream scoop to serve it and it will stay in a ball after it hits your plate, kinda like sushi rice.

| Now I understand the difference. But you still didn't tell us what is in it?
