| Maybe we should get an outfitter in Maine that traps the bear and do that next year?

Sounds good to me. That would be awsome. I'm going to keep applying for Michigan too. I'll rack up the points sooner or later. I want one of Ivan's Moose too.

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED HUNTING NORTH CAROLINA? I TRY TO GO EVERY YEAR AND HAVE HAD PRETTY GOOD LUCK ON HUGE BEARS.
THE COASTAL REGION IS BEST FOR A REALY BIG ONE. STATE RECORD IS OVER 830 POUNDS SET BACK IN THE EARLY 90'S SO IT IS FAIRLY CURRENT. MY LARGEST THERE WAS IN 96. HE WEIGHED 632 POUNDS.
THER IS NO DRAW THERE. JUST BUY YOUR LICENSE AND HUNT. I DON'T KNOW WHO GUIDES THERE SINCE I USUALLY HUNT ON PRIVATE LANDS OR ON GAME LANDS IN THE MOUNTAINS.
IF YOU WANT A NONGUIDED HUNT YOU SHOULD TRY THE MOUNTAINS.
IN THE PISGAH NATIONAL FOREST THERE IS A GAMELAND LOCATED OUTSIDE OF BOONE CALLED THUNDER HOLE. I'VE BEEN THERE HUNDREDS OF TIMES AND SEE DECENT BEAR EVERY TIME. THE FALL SEASON IS BEST SINCE THE WEATHER CAN BE UNPREDICTABLE AT BEST IN THE LATE SEASON.

I have hunted bear in North Carolina. Those big peanut fields are something else.Bear just lay around in them and get fat. Some huge bear there.

| I have never seen one. There have been some taken. The most I have seen is dark chocolate brown and two grayish ones.

| Those draw hunts are frustrating, waiting on the draw results. I have been entering the draw on about everything I can, in Texas, and have not been drawnn yet. Mostly, I am interested in Exotics, Axis and Elk, on State Preserves. Oh well, I might get drawn sooner or later!

I agree. It took me about 20 years of applying before I was drawn for a moose permit here in Maine
