Said I was going put these up as soon as I could, but it's been a while.
This is a free range blackbuck doe on our ranch in cherry springs, tx and a free range axis doe from blumenthal, tx. Went after big axis buck, but things don't always go as planned when hunting free range. Great trip to blumenthal anyway.

| I don't know if you have ever ate axis before, but after you do, you will throw rocks at whitetail and beef! I can't say enough good things about axis meat. I know a guy in Bandera, that doesn't eat anything but axis. Season is year around, and they come up in his back yard at night. They even use ground axis for hamburgers! The blackbuck I shot, was used in sausage with axis and pork, so I don't really know how it tastes, by itself. I was told that you need to soak it in milk, prior to cooking. It just looked like venison, to me.

| I have two blackbucks on the wall and this doe. They all tasted like deer meat to me. I have some ppl in my family that wont eat it cause they say the meat is to dark. I have heard all the stories of how axis is so good, but it tasted just like whitetail to me and I've been eating whitetail since I was in diapers. She had a wounded leg, I'm woundering if that was what made her taste a little different.
