I practice about 4 hours a week, on 3-D and bag and block targets. Why? To stay on target. Down time between hunts is a good time to shoot and stay on top of your game. If you think about it, pro athletes practice year round....

I hunt hogs year round and do alot with my bow. Turkey season is right around the corner and i plan on taking my limit with my bow. 4 hours a week may not seem like much, but if you practice every week, it's plenty.

4 hours is the least i shoot, most times it is more like 8 or 9.....

How much practicing doe's anyone else do????

I try to shoot 3 times a week about 1 1/2 hours every time I practice, or at least 100 shots. I love to shoot my bow.

I'm lucky if I get to practice 6 months out of the year. I live to far from an indoor range and with the weather here it's almost impossible to shoot during the winter.

Adverse weather and high cross winds could make for some interesting shots for sure. Guess you gotta float those shots on the breeze and hope for the best.....:)

Does Wyoming windage come out of a bottle?:D  I saw a show on the v/s or outdoor channel the other day where these two guy's were hunting big horn sheep in the rockies. They were making 60 to 100 yard shots with a bow. Shooting uphill with cross winds through an opening in some trees. The shots they made were impressive.

Where you hunt do you have to make long shots like that?

I personally would NEVER take a shot that far. I don't like to shoot over 30 yards with my compound and 40 yards with the crossbow. If I want to shoot 100 yards at something I'll pick up my rifle. Even in the broken terrain I hunt in I stay within my comfort zone. MOST of my shots with my rifle are well under 100 yards. I like getting as close as possible to make sure I make the best shot possible. I have lost one deer in the years of bow hunting and it still bothers me.

I practice out to forty yards myself, but like you guy's, i prefer shorter shots. I practice kneeling, standing, sitting on the ground, shooting through trees and high grasses and weeds. Some shots i make through the trees only allows about eight inches between the trees to hit the heart or lungs on my 3-D target.  purposely make these tigh shots so when a better shot presents itself or a difficult one, i'm ready.
