Just curious what y'alls hunting bows are and how they are set up.
I shoot an oooooold Browning Stalker solo cam with a GKF rest. My sites are an old Cobra frame with one fiber optic pin. The reason for one pin is because I limit my shots to 25 yds or less so theres no need to clutter up my sight window. I shoot straight fletched 5575 gold tips with 100 gr three blade muzzys at a whopping 255 fps. Two reasons for the straight fletchings. They don't bleed speed like a helical fletch and they are quieter. The downside to a straight fletch is the bow has to be perfectly tuned. Most archery shops do not want to spend the time to properly tune a bow so they put a hard helical fletch on the arrows so they can get the bow out the door faster.
I'd like to have a newer bow but as long as the old Browning is drawing blood I can't seem to retire it.

PSE nova, carbon fiber arrows tipped with cuda predator mechanicals@ 100grains, helical fletched @3 degrees, ultra drop away rest, 3-pin fiberoptic sight with a 1 led light for low light, and a cobra release. Shooting a whopping 266 feet per second. Works like a charm, and like you said it draws blood.
My dream bow, a PSE x-force with a spot-hog whammy drop away, led or laser sights, same release.

| I just changed over to a Hoyt SuperHawk 70# 30" draw, True Glo Sight, Whisker Biscuit, Carbon Master 3D arrows, still using the Magnus 100 grain broad heads. I have been hearing alot though about the two blade rage expandables, anyone have any use these on pigs?

After hearing the Rage Craze, I had to try em on hogs. I'm impressed to say the least. The fly very good and the entry and exit holes look like you hit the hog with a broad axe. Big time blood trails. No failures and the blades have held up very well. I bought a pack of replacement blades and havn't even opened the pack. Just a few passes on a diamond sharpener is all it takes to get them back to a razor edge.
I'll give em a thumbs up after 9 hogs.

| Great ! Thanks for the response... Do you try to make the shot behind the shoulder or a little further back. What I am getting to, do you try and get behind the shield or just let the razors zip thru ? Thanks again, I'm going to get some. I have buddies using them on deer and say you can't miss the blood trail, one of them hit a doe at beginning of season and swears there was blood 6 foot in some of the trees, when shot the deer was under the stand and the shot was angled downward, the entry was said to be over two inches, was not there but two made same claim. | Ended up buying my brother inlaws bowtech General and love it.72 pound pull with a whisker biscuit.Unbelievable how this bow shoots.Shooting 26 inch Axis 400 infused arrows with 2 blade rage 100 grain broadheads.Only thing I want to change before next fall is putting a G5 lighted sight with the extra floating pin.

On larger boars I always wait for a quartering away shot just for the reason of avoiding the shield. I did hit one at the back edge of the shield and the Rage didn't have any problem cutting through.
Last year I hit a big boar smack dab in the middle of the shield with a Muzzy. When the arrow hit it sounded like I hit a sheet of 1/4" metal plate. The arrow didn't go in more then a couple inches and the boar just walked off like it didn't even know it was hit.

| I'm going to try them, the Magnus works good for penetration even through the shield but sometimes the hole closes back up and the tracking begins if you can find blood and you all know how tuff and far theses things can go. Thanks again for the resonse. Last edited on Sat Nov 29th, 2008 11:09 pm by Glock King

| i am shooting an ancient pse treebark with octane rest, true glow sights.the bow shoots so good i can put it in the hogs eye socket . Been looking at those misson bowsby mathews have heard good things about them. i just bought one of those bow lights made by tactical devices, its the best thing i have bought for my bow in a longtime very bright and the hogs dont see a thing. been using those two blade rage broadheads there is nothing on the market that even comes close to the damage that it does i have had had over 5 inch exit holes fom those broadheads. Makes tracking them a cinch, most of the time
