We caught about 30 of them under 210 bridge in Lake Charles the other day. We kept the Max and all had worms. I know most of the big ones have them but these were all about 17 inches. The worms were about 5 inches pulled out of the meat. The only thing I can figure, is that they have been held up in the marsh for a long time.

No, I have not had a chance. I have been waiting to wade the shallow water in west cove. The water has been a little low on salinity with all the rain. I will be fishing them in a few weeks though. I already know they will work. They are great flies. The Puf and wombat are going to kill them. Just waiting to get some real clear water when I can get there. I will post the pictures and send them in a CD for him. When they are tailing in the shallow water it's crazy. Just be ready for the pictures, there will be a lot of them.

Glad to hear you like 'em buddy.......just picked up some 4/0 stainless hooks. Trying to come up with something good to use them in. The Puff.......will slay 'em...it's an old Lefty Kreh pattern. The Wambat is the only tandem pattern I ever saw for saltwater tyed so dark. Looking forward to seeing the pics when you send 'em. Will post them and give your site here and your scent business a good plug on both of my sights. Gives me more to write about.

Reds and specs have worms in them, like a parasite. After you fillet them, you can see the worms in the meat usually one ore two. Sometimes they have them and sometimes they don't. Mostly the larger ones, but sometimes the small ones have them too. It don't bother most people to eat them like that, but I would rather not. You can pull them right out of the meat, they were about 4inches long in the 17 inchers we caught. I'm going to try out Aroostookbasser's flies this weekend. If I get some with worms I'll take a picture of them and post it on here.

| That's interesting. I've never seen worms in fish. I've seen warbles on squirrels, ring worms in coon and some type of worm in elk.

Trout and Redfish are ate up with them this time of year. I ate these fish for years in east Galveston Bay with my family before I learned about it. Caught my dad cleaning them out of some fillets. He said he never told us because he thought we would not eat the fish. Problem was I never cleaned them out of the fish I cleaned and fed my Dad. Can you see his face??????

Pretty much every fish you catch is going to have worms. You might just not see them every time.
Don't worry about it. Just adds protien!
