how many of you guys have fished for popmpano?

I gotta say its the best fighting fish out there for its size. Great on lighter tackle. A 5lb er will peel the 10lb test off the reel - their great.

Those pompano can pull like a freight train. The wife caught a 42 lb african pompano a few years ago on our trip to the keys. It had her pinned to the side of the boat for awhile but she wasn't about to give up.

I use to be obcessed with spearfishing. I've had some awsome spearfishing trips in the gulf of mexico.  The past few years all I've speared are a few catfish.

The only thing i can spear locally is gar since they are considered a trash fish. But in the ocean, nothing like fresh speared fish on the grill. I'm talking out of the water, cleaned and on the grill, little salt and pepper, dash of tabasco and maybe a little lime or lemon juice= good eats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hardest fight i've ever had on rod and reel would have to be a shark, and second a large grouper.

Driving in Florida can be annoying for sure----- get behind a "Q-tip head", The little old ladies that drive a caddy down the road at the blistering speed of 5-7 mph and weaving from side to side, and they cant see over the dash. Also the love-bugs, those serial fornicating insects that fly locked together in the throws of copulation, if you dont wash those off pretty quick, they will eat up the paint on your truck. Let's not forget the state bird of Florida, the mosquito......:D  As for the people, some are not so bad and are actually pretty nice and will give you directions if you give them a six pack:alcohol.......

Most of the folks down there are not so bad and a few are pretty nice. Florida is a sportsmans paradise.

We got some real winners in Georgia as well so dont despare Rick. We should get together with the guys on this forum and create our own state.... I am convinced that the only sane people in the world are here!!!!!!!!!

+Driving in Florida sucks. I never saw such rude people in my life (Sorry Rick, this is not pointed at you). A truck driver told me that the only place in the U.S. that has such rude drivers, is in New Jersey.
