Here is a pic two days later. I rebaited the trap and and put a new card in the cam. I left the trap alone and pored the bait through the top of the trap. I did not set the trigger. As you can see, they have become at ease with it.

Here are some more sneeky little piggies. I modified the trap with ease, I just took a 4x3 1/2 piece of cattle panel and zip tied it to the fingers. After the hogs got used to it, I just used the fingers as an entire gate and set the trigger for the next week. I took 18 hogs that week 75-125lbs, all feral. I let all the european "russian" go. I have caught a lot more in coral traps, but that was the most I caught in one portable trap in the same place without moving it. There is no bottom to this trap as I prefer, but it really has to be staked down or the bigger ones will just lift it up and crawl under.

I have thought about making a trap like that, but to make it where they can't get back out, it would be real time consuming. The trap by All Seasons, will allow this somewhat, as it has a spring loaded door, that hangs vertically.

| The type of gate that swings down works good, but with out a stop they can get out. One thing that will help stop this is to build the bottom part of the door at an angle toward the inside of the trap. You can also put a piece on the bottom of the door, so when closed will extend away from the door into the trap. When the catch tries to root the door open they are standing on part of it. I have seen traps built both ways, but do not own one or have pics, sorry. I am planing to build a couple, when i do I'll try to post pics.

| Oh, forgot to answer you Dale. There is a wire floor in it. And, there is a trip wire that runs across the trap, that pulls a pin, and allows the door to fall. I have a catch, that keeps the door from being opened by the hogs. I will be making a couple more, when I get time. Last edited on Mon Jun 2nd, 2008 07:36 am by Chick
