This is what I am talking about. A true Texas Hog Hunter! I hope you spitted the whole pig, and cooked him at once. When you have shot placement like this, it prevents the tracking of hogs through briar thickets. Keep up the good work, and marksmanship!

Yeah, don't go over there and talk head shots. I truly think that guy couldn't hit the side of a barn with a rifle, is why he doesn't support them. I say, DRT and less lost hogs.

Hehe, too true! I made the same post as above over "there" and got banned from the site. Not only do I think he can't shoot worth a darn, is utterly paranoid about the "anti's out to get him", but I don't think even think he hunts anymore.

I appreciate sites where folks can be open and honest and relize that there is always "another way', (lik ethis one). Over there, it's egocentrism at it's worst, and everybody suffers because of it.....

You wouldn't believe the exchange we had. He was emailing ME, saying and pointing the finger at me. I would just respond, and he would get madder everytime I responded. He began making threats that he was going to report me to my email provider, and all kinds of stuff. I calmly pointed out that he had begun the emails to me, and made demands, and I had just respectfully responded to him. I asked him if he needed any other information of mine, so he could report me to whoever. I also told him I was an NRA Certified Marksmanship coach and instructor, and would be happy to help him improve his marksmanship, so that he would not have to trail hogs all over the place. It really got funny, with his ranting and raving. I don't know if I got banned or not, as I never went back.

And another thing, don't even talk about snaring hogs over there. They don't have enough knowledge, understanding, or experience to do it, so they just think no one should. haha.

homer, any decent rifle scope will work fine on a lever action 30/30. I know if I had one I'd top it with a quality 3x9x50mm. No need for super high magnification on a 30/30 because of the ballistics but a wide field of view would be nice if it's used for a walking/stalking gun. JMO.

Ditto that. i specifically looked for the largest diameter reticle I could find with quality glass. After alot of research and talking to more hunters than I care to recount, I settlede in on the Leupold.

The only reason I wanted a large objective ws for the light gathering capeabilities. 9-10 hogs I shoo are at night. So the less light I have to use the better.

I have to admit though, my Marlin is alot better shot than I am. That .30-30 will drive tacks from 100 yds. VERY small groupings. I'm sighting in a new bullet box tomorrow and I'll take a pic of the target and post it here. I LOVE my Marlin....
