On opening day Oct.26th at 12:10 p.m. I caught a 6 pointer sneaking along the edge of a fir thicket.I was actually seated having my lunch when I saw him through the trees.Since I am only allowed one deer and it has to be a buck I decided to take him. When I left the house before dawn I told my wife that if I see one with horns it was going down.Prior to seeing him I saw 2 does and 3 ruffed grouse.I raised my Winchester model 70 limited edition in 300wsm and dropped him in his tracks.Best of luck and safe hunting to all!!!!

| Thanks brucet. It is going to be a cold night here and will definitely get the bucks moving especially with snow coming on Friday. This was the first time I rifle hunted in 25 years as I strictly bowhunted.I sold all my guns when the gun law came in 1995 and had not bought a new one since Sept.30,1979.My wife bought me the Winchester as a retirement present and I really like the 300wsm calibre.Best of luck to you and everyone else this deer season!!!

| Went out this morning at first light for a look-see where I shot my deer last week.I sat down at 8:50a.m. in the spot I shot my deer from.I let out a couple of doe bleats and settled in.At 8:30a.m. I let out another couple of doe bleats and at 9:45a.m. I heard a small snap behind me.I slowly turned to see what made the sound and saw a big buck who snorted and in 2 leaps jumped into a fir thicket. The buck was standing only 25 feet behind me and had about a 22 inch inside spread,10+ points and was a solid 250 pounds plus.Since I am already tagged out there was no shooting this big boy.If you are wondering why I was there I was satisfying my curiosity as to whether or not I had found a hot spot and I believe I have which can be difficult hunting big woods like I do.

| I can understand that.I hunt the big woods also up here in northern Maine for deer as well. Its tough hunting. Not at all like where I bow hunt in Conn.
